A prayer for your children
Parents pray for their children in the school car park, over a cot at 2am, and at the kitchen table after a door has slammed. This one works for all three.
The prayer
Father, You love my children more than I do, and I didn't think that was possible. I'm putting them in Your hands again today, because mine get tired.
Keep them safe in body and in mind. Protect them from what I can see and from what I can't. Give them friends who are good for them, and the sense to walk away from the ones who aren't.
Where I've been harsh, forgive me and help me repair it. Where I've been absent, draw me back. Give me patience when they're difficult, and words when I don't have any.
Most of all, draw them to Jesus. Let them find You early and never let go. Finish the good work You've started in them. Amen.
