A prayer for your marriage

Father, You brought us together and You know where we are now. Some days we're fine. Some days we're two people in the same house who have stopped talking about anything that matters.

Soften both of us. Give me the courage to say the first kind word, and the humility to hear the hard one. Where there's a wound one of us keeps reopening, heal it at the root. Where we've built walls, show us the door.

Remind us that we're on the same side. Help us forgive the way You forgave us, fully and more than once. Be the third strand in the cord, the one that keeps it from breaking.

Bring us back to laughing together. Bring us back to praying together. Amen.
